Building from the success of INSPIRE, Rush University Medical Center is conducting a pilot study to investigate the effect of probiotics versus placebo on symptoms and quality of life among those with Long COVID. Long COVID continues to be a major public health issue with limited to no options for treatment.

PURE-LC is recruiting former INSPIRE participants who reported having active Long COVID and were originally enrolled through Rush University Medical Center, Yale University, and University of Washington. As with INSPIRE, this study is being conducted virtually. The study includes two separate 4-month treatment periods in addition to taking surveys. Each period involves taking either an over-the-counter probiotic supplement or a placebo. All study treatments are being provided at no cost to participants.

Eligible participants have been sent an email invitation. If you think you should be eligible for the study and are interested in participating, you can contact the study team at inspire@rush.edu or at 312-952-6615.

We continue to be dedicated to hearing participants' voices, capturing their experiences, and making meaningful progress towards better understanding the long-term effects of COVID-19.
